An intensive workshop introducing participants to a "visual music" approach to audio/video editing. Participants will be shown how to weave and arrange intricate and highly sequenced rhythmic structures using only tiny samples from self-shot or found audio / video. An introduction to the history behind this underground cut-up style will be followed with a detailed and intensive tutorial on how to achieve a unique "what you see is what you hear" rhythmic and visual music effect.
Reikalavimai / Requirements
- Laptop with headphones. A mouse is highly recommended.
- 30 day trial install of Adobe Premiere CS 5 or higher (or Final Cut 7). Free download of MPEG Streamclip and Audacity are also recommended.
- Optional: Uncompressed video footage (MPEG, or straight from camera .MOVs) or YouTube ripped footage.
Apie vadovą / About the tutor
Emad has over 6 years of experience working as a freelance media producer, educator, organizer & promoter. He graduated from the Ontario College of Art & Design with a BFA in Integrated Media and a minor in Digital Media Studies & History. He's shown work and performed in cities including Toronto, Montreal, Paris, London & Berlin. He performs under the moniker "SΛRIN". He has been involved as an organizer with the "VIDEODROME" collective in Toronto since 2009 which culminates annually as a one night a/v exhibition, one of the largest of its kind in North America.
